In June 2007 I went to the Lake District for the week, having not been since graduation way back in 2000!
I stayed at a really nice guest house called Elder Grove in Ambleside. It's a family-run affair and Paul and Vicky the owners were extremely friendly - I highly recommend a stay there.
Apart from the first couple of days, the weather was pretty wet, so I couldn't go up too high.
You can see the state of the weather for yourself in the photos below:
Wansfell Pike and Troutbeck, including views of Ambleside and Lake Windermere
Buttermere and Haystacks
Derwent Water, Water Falls and Ashness Bridge
Tarn Hows and Grizedale Forest (on a particularly soggy day!)
Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and Stanley Force
Grasmere and Rydal Water
Place Fell and Ullswater
