For the residential part of the award, I went to a cathedral camp at the home of the Anglican Church - Canterbury. It was really good fun (honest!) - we had to do a bit of work like painting the under-croft, cleaning some of the many hundreds of windows, and painting some of the chains around the gardens. But, of course, there was loads of time for social activities, such as ten-pin bowling, seeing the X-Files film (which is a load of rubbish, so I'd save your money if I were you), and spending an afternoon in Margate (the southern equivalent of Morecambe!), as well as getting a special tour of the cathedral and getting to go up in the roof and up the top of the towers!!! And I almost forgot - we also got a radio interview on the dizzy heights of CTFM (Canterbury FM)!!! And all this for just £45.00!!!
The following year, 1999, I went to the camp in Lincoln, which was also excellent fun. We even got to see the eclipse from the roof!
